Jailed Chief Justice Abdulla Saeed’s father Mohamed Saeed has said that he has no kindness for President Abdulla Yameen for the way he treated his son.

Mohamed Saeed said this after Joint Opposite candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih visited his residence during his door-to-door campaign trip in Addu City. Solih and running mate Faisal Naseem visited the jailed Chief Justice’s father at his residence Alivaage in Hulhudhoo island.

In an interview to RaajjeMV after their visit, Saeed said that the opposition coalition’s decision to give the party ticket to Solih brought him immense joy and that the torture his son is enduring will only end once the current administration is overthrown.

“I was overjoyed to hear of Solih’s nomination as the opposition presidential candidate as I only see justice for my son on the horizon once the current administration is overthrown” said Saeed.

He highlighted that the family believes that former Chief Justice Saeed is being kept in prison under baseless charges.

He also approved of Naseem as Solih’s running mate.

“President Yameen treated our son in ways we never saw coming. I have no kindness for Yameen. They locked him up without a valid judgement. Never have we heard or seen a Supreme Court Justice of any corner of the world being arrested in such a heinous manner. How can we be kind towards him?” asked Saeed.

During his visit, Solih condemned Saeed's conviction and assured the former Chief Justice’s father that the perpetrators will be brought before justice.

Mohamed Saeed further highlighted the family’s tremendous support for Solih, saying that he deserves to lead the people and that they remain hopeful that he will win September's election.
