Gaaf Dhaal Faresmaathodhaa island council revealed that they will bring a solution to the issue faced by school students due to the smoke emitting from the island’s engine house "within a week".

Speaking to RaajjeMV, the island council’s President Ibrahim Sabaah said that students have been facing difficulties and hindrances to their education due to the smoke emitting from the engine house and this has been a major issue that has been drawn-out.

Highlighting that due to the wind direction blowing smoke into the school grounds, Sabaah said that students have gone through a great deal of difficulties in concentrating on their studies, as well as physically. As such, the council President said that students have gone through distress such as nausea, fever and headaches, adding that drinking water is also not safe to use in the school any longer.

Sabaah added that bringing a solution to the matter has been hindered following frequent changes to the position of Manager handling the work at the engine house, however, a solution will be brought within the pending week, with employees of state utilities company FENAKA Corporation already having begun work to bring a solution to the issue.

Following the issue of school students and teachers being affected by the engine house smoke, guardians had put a padlock on the school gates on Thursday which was later removed when FENAKA had given their assurance that a solution will be brought to the matter within a week.

Faresmaathodhaa school teaches up to the tenth grade starting from pre-school.
