A 29-year-old individual has been arrested in a drug operation carried out in Naifaru island of Lhaviyani Atoll.
Officers of the Maldives Police Service apprehended the individual on July 5th, after receiving ‘intelligence information’ that he was attempting to smuggle narcotics onto the island.
Upon searching him, officers had found two rubber packets of what they believe to be narcotic substances, and the police are investigating the matter further.
The regional magistrate court in Naifaru has remanded the individual by seven days.
