Maldives’ allied opposition parties must ensure that the current government is ousted and 'should do nothing that allows any other result', says former parliamentarian Mohamed Thoriq.
Thoriq said this in an interview with Raajje Television on Sunday night, during which he criticized the current government for its repression of the opposition, violation of human rights, and ‘wanton’ destruction of heritage sites and the environment.
The former Manadhoo constituency representative said that all arrangements, decisions, and policies of the allied parties, who refer to themselves as the Joint Opposition, must be aimed at ousting the government.
In this regard, the former lawmaker also said that the Joint Opposition must be willing to ‘make any sacrifices’.
Thoriq said that the only way Maldives can acquire development and progress in the future is for incumbent president Abdulla Yameen to be ousted.
