Officers of Maldives Police Service (MPS) have on Thursday assitanced residents of Eydhafushi island in Baa atoll Eydhafushi to relieve damages inflicted by hefty floods caused by heavy showers.
The officers said that they are active in areas heavily flooded due to unceasing showers and in houses that have been affected by the water.
Police and the Eydhafushi island council are jointly working to pile sandbags near houses water is streaming into.
RaajjeMV was unable to attain a word from the council regarding the damages caused by flooding at the time of publishing as the station's calls were unanswered.
The Maldives Meteorology Service (Met Office) had predicted thundershowers over areas between Haa Alif and Laamu atolls from 10 a,m Thursday to 10 a.m Friday.
