The Maldivian government’s tactics are reminiscent of a training center as opposed to a power of the state, MP Abdul Latheef Mohamed has said.

MP Latheef said this while speaking at the opposition rally held in capital city Malé on Tuesday night, adding that the government has ‘trained’ a number of government officials.

“How many vice presidents has this government trained? How many youth ministers? How many foreign and health ministers? How many ministerial coordinators and businessmen?” the lawmaker said.

MP Latheef is referring to the government’s personnel changes to the ministries and state-run offices. The Maldivian government frequently brings changes to the staff at state-run offices.

There have been several individuals appointed to ministerial positions at the cabinet President Abdulla Yameen has had two other vice presidents, both of them dismissed.
