PPM deputy responds to criticism over a previous conviction, says will replace rusty roofs in opposition camp sites
Abdul Raheem has been convicted of stealing roofs during his time as the assistant manager of Laamu Atoll’s STO branch
Abdul Raheem said that the opposition began raising the issue for political purposes
As President Yameen's administration continues to receive huge backlash, Abdul Raheem is one of its biggest defenders

Abdul Raheem Abdulla, the deputy leader of ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) has 'joked' that he was willing to replace rusty metal roofs of campaign sites.

Abdul Raheem said this via Facebook Live, while preparing for a ceremony in Gan island of Laamu atoll, in response to the opposition's criticism about his time as the assistant manager of Laamu Atoll’s STO branch, during which he was convicted of stealing roofs to build his house.

Abdul Raheem said that the opposition began raising the issue for political purposes but joked that he was willing to donate roofs to opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)’s campaign site.

"MDP should present a proposal if they want the roofs and a special committee will evaluate it," said Abdul Raheem while next to deputy speaker of parliament Moosa Manik and Velidhoo constituency MP Abdulla Yameen.
