The Criminal Court had early Thursday morning remanded Mohamed Nadheem, who is facing allegations of conspiring to overthrow the government, until sentencing.

The court had begun proceedings to remand a number of individuals on Wednesday night, and had remanded Nadheem’s father-in-law former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom as well.

Gayoom is being investigated over the same allegations, but the police have put forth charges of destroying evidence against him as well.

Nadheem was brought to the court on Wednesday night, but by the time the court judge had made a decision regarding his remand, it was about 1:40 AM on Thursday.

The court has remanded Nadheem brother-in-law Faris Maumoon, an opposition lawmaker, until sentencing as well.
