Former Police Commissioner Ahmed Areef says he was dismissed over his decision to have tonight’s Supreme Court ruling enforced.

Areef said this to RaajjeMV following the press conference where Attorney General Mohamed Anil revealed this.

Anil said that Areef has been removed from his position at the helm of the policing institute and replaced by his deputy.

Anil also said that the government is yet to decide on the validity of the ruling, and therefore has delayed its enforcement.

However, the police had already announced its decision to have it enforced, although before Areef’s dismissal.
