The government has been accused of attempting to bribe jailed opposition Adhaalath Party (AP) leader Imran Abdulla.

Shidhatha Shareef, the President of AP’s foreign relations committee, made the accusation at the joint opposition rally in Maamigili island.

Shidhatha said AP leader Imran’s imprisonment, MP Faris Maumoon’s detention, and Jumhoree Party (JP)’s leader Qasim Ibrahim’s self-exile, are examples of President Abdulla Yameen’s tyranny.

She said that more than 900 days in prison has not dented Imran’s determination and courage at all, and that he has remained un-phased by President Yameen’s “deals”.
