R,K Radhakrishnan, a writer and journalist with a staunch interest in the Maldives, said Ambassador Mohamed Shareef informed him of impending attempts to oust Nasheed in 2012.
Let me reveal now that it was Mundhu, who on February 2, 2012, asserted to me that the #NasheedPresidency wouldn't last out the week. https://t.co/E0tNFbVaSa

Nasheed's adminsitration was forcibly removed from office in 2012. Nasheed said officers of the Maldives National Defence Force had threatened his life and that he resigned under duress 'at gunpoint'.
Mohamed Shareef, the Maldivian ambassador accredited to Sri Lanka, has met with Radhakrishnan this week as well, and his tweet is a response to it.
Shareef is photographed alongside the journalist in a meeting at the Maldivian embassy in Colombo.
@mundhu_maldives Delighted to catch up with my dear friend @RKRadhakrishn. Lovely to welcome you at @MDVembLanka. As always, a stimulating discussion on Indo-Maldives ties. Enjoy your brief return to Sri Lanka! @Meerasrini pic.twitter.com/b3jlgL6gkU

While Shareef described Radhakrishnan as a 'dear friend', the journalist has been linked to the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party.
Radhakrishnan's meeting with the ambassador comes at a time when the relations between Maldives and India have been reproted to be 'tense'.
With the Indian government expressing concern over Maldives' free trade agreement with China, and the Indian media reporting on 'rampid India-bashing within the Maldives'.
