President says relations with Malaysia will 'double' anti-terror efforts

President Abdulla Yameen has said efforts to fight radicalization and terrorism will be doubled with the help of Malaysia.
The President said this in a joint statement with Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak at the President’s Office on Wednesday.
President Yameen said the Malaysian PM agreed that anti-terror efforts in the two countries needed to be increased.
PM Razak and his government have been confronted with the danger of the Islamic State (IS), and that he has discussed with President Yameen on steps to prevent attacks from terrorist groups.
He added that anti-terror efforts are more effective when it’s done at a global level.
A worrying number of citizens from Maldives and Malaysia have been recruited to terrorist groups such as IS, and both countries have arrested suspects involved in domestic terrorist plots.
