Telecommunications provider Ooredoo Maldives is offering special call rates to Sri Lanka and India as part of its relief efforts given the ongoing tropical threats in the region.
Customers can reach anyone in India through Ooredoo's service for just MVR 0.99, and rates for calls to Sri Lanka have dropped to roughly MVR 0.02.
These special rates are available from December 1st to December 2nd.
The monsoon depression that formed off of Sri Lanka and India's southern coasts had progressed into a high depression, then to a tropical storm -- named Cyclone Ockhi -- which has been highly destructive.
