President Abdulla Yameen and first lady Fathimath Ibrahim have visited the Burj Khalifa, which has been tallest building in the world since 2008.

President Yameen left to the United Arab Emirates on Monday at the invitation of Emirati president Khalifa bin Zayed.

The President’s Office said that Yameen will meet Emirati leaders in key areas where Maldives and the United Arab Emirates can cooperate.

‘Maldives looks to further strengthen and diversify trade, increase technical and financial assistance, and further accelerate socioeconomic ties between the UAE’ a statement from the office said.

The Burj Khalifa is followed by Shanghai Tower in the list of the world's tallest buildings. The 128-storey Shanghai tower is shorter by almost 200 meters.
