Characterizing the current Parliament as a rubber stamp for the administration, he further claimed that members are being coerced into compliance through the influence of financial inducements.

Mauroof Zakir, the Member of Parliament for the Kendhoo constituency, has stated that lawmakers representing the People's National Congress (PNC) are afraid to speak about the Ras Male' project in Parliament.
Speaking during RaajjeTV’s special coverage titled "Maldivian Land for Maldivians," MP Mauroof alleged that PNC Parliamentary Group Leader Ibrahim Falah only supported debating the emergency motion regarding the Ras Male' project to ensure PNC members had a platform to speak. The motion, submitted by South Galolhu MP Meekail Ahmed Naseem, calls for the disclosure of agreement details and alleges significant embezzlement and corruption surrounding the 99-year lease of 500 hectares of reclaimed land to Abu Dhabi’s Eagle Hills company.
However, MP Mauroof noted that MDP members had been very proactive in securing their slots to participate in the debate early on. He further stated that since only one hour was allocated for the debate, MDP Parliamentary Group Leader Ibrahim Nazil had requested an extension of time to ensure PNC members also had the opportunity to speak.
MP Mauroof stated that even the PNC members who were most eager to speak on the matter presented a completely different narrative, noting that some members of the ruling party do not wish to proceed with the project.
Among them are many individuals who do not genuinely wish to proceed with this; however, they remain in this position out of necessity, driven by a greed for the money and monthly allowances provided by President Muizzu.Mauroof Zakir
Furthermore, Member Mauroof characterized the current Parliament as a "rubber stamp" assembly, describing it as a legislature of bots.
