Government is working towards a state where respect is mandated through legislation: Mauroof

Mauroof Zakir, the Member of Parliament for the Kendhoo constituency, has stated that the government is currently working towards a situation where respect for all individuals is mandated through the creation of new legislation.

Speaking on a RaajjeTV talk show, MP Mauroof stated that a bill mandating the showing of respect is expected to be drafted and submitted to Parliament when the next session begins. He further noted that matters inherent to human nature cannot be imposed through compulsion.

Citing an example, MP Mauroof stated that while it is natural to smile when meeting someone, resort waiters are compelled to grin for their salaries even when they are unhappy. He added that the initiative currently undertaken by President Muizzu is of a similar nature.

Take smiling, for example. Smiling when you see someone is usually a very natural reaction, isn't it? You smile because something happens that makes you want to. However, when we work as waiters in these resorts, things are different. Even if you are unhappy, you have to show your teeth and grin. It is a requirement; otherwise, you simply won't get paid. So, it is that kind of situation. What the President is starting now.

Furthermore, MP Mauroof alleged that when a leader lacks genuine concern for the people and fails to deliver on their needs, they resort to deceptive tactics to divert public attention. He emphasized that this is a matter the public must remain highly vigilant about.

MP Mauroof further noted that while actions cannot be taken through force or coercion, those observing without understanding the underlying motives might perceive such actions as noble and well-intentioned.
