Former Foreign Minister and former President of the MDP, Abdulla Shahid, has stated that the true foundation of a resilient democracy lies in the financial self-sufficiency of its citizens and a robust national economy.
In a post regarding the investment forum held during the MDP Congress, Shahid stated that the cornerstone of a robust democracy is the financial empowerment of its citizens and a resilient economy. He emphasized that it is vital for the nation to maintain an environment conducive to investment.
Furthermore, establishing investor confidence in the country is of paramount importance. The investment forum held during the 5th MDP Congress aims to lay the foundation for building these vital connections between investors and local councils.
Commenting on the forum, the party's chairperson and former President Mohamed Nasheed stated that the objective is to improve the economic conditions of local islands. He emphasized that the goal is to ensure residents can enjoy the same quality of life in their home islands that they currently seek by traveling to Male' for various essential services.
President Nasheed stated that there is an urgent need for local councils to initiate and implement their own projects. He noted that the party's project office has been working closely with the councils, resulting in the submission of 100 business project proposals by the local authorities.
