Police have begun guarding the Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development following reports that several key documents related to the Ras Male' project have gone missing.
An employee of the ministry, speaking on condition of anonymity, reported that police officers have been stationed on guard outside the Housing Ministry building for the past two nights.
He further stated that the move has caused significant unrest among staff, with some employees suggesting that Minister Abdulla Muththalib made the decision due to a lack of trust in the workforce.
A police forensic team conducted an investigation at the Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing, and Urban Development during an operation carried out around 7:30 p.m. on Friday night.
Upon receiving this information, RaajjeTV inspected the area but did not observe any police presence at the time. According to the source, police officers are stationed there during after-office hours at night, and they remained on guard at the Ministry’s entrance until the office opened on Sunday.
Sources have confirmed that a police forensic team was active at the Ministry following reports that key documents related to the Ras Male' project had gone missing. In a subsequent statement, the police clarified that they attended the Ministry at approximately 7:18 p.m. on Friday, September 25, 2026, after receiving a report that lockers containing official documents had been opened in violation of established protocols.
