Falah to Yameen: You’ll Never Return to the Presidency

Falah contended that such allegations stem from Yameen’s inability to accept the developmental progress achieved under President Muizzu, further claiming that these remarks demonstrate a complete lack of empathy for the Maldivian people.

Ibrahim Falah, the Member of Parliament for the Inguraidhoo constituency and Parliamentary Group Leader of the People's National Congress (PNC), has launched a scathing critique of former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, asserting that anyone who has plundered the national treasury will never again be allowed to come within reach of the country's leadership.
Falah made these remarks in a post on X, sharing a screenshot of a news report featuring former President Yameen. In the report, Yameen characterized the government's ongoing Ras Malé project as a "theft" from the future of the Maldivian people.
In his remarks, President Yameen asserted that the current administration is selling off the future of the citizens, arguing that no law grants the government such a mandate. Furthermore, Yameen stated that as this is an illegal agreement, any future administration should not be held liable for its terms.
Responding to Yameen’s remarks, Falah stated that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s decision to launch a mega-project of unprecedented scale in the country has left Yameen "restless and envious." He added that this reaction stems from Yameen’s complete lack of compassion for the nation and its people.

Furthermore, Falah urged Yameen to reflect on his own tenure and suggested he "write the title of President on a piece of paper and sleep with it under his pillow." Falah also alleged that Yameen’s rhetoric stems from an utter inability to accept the progress and success the nation is achieving under President Dr. Muizzu’s administration.
As the government and opposition exchange heated rhetoric over the Ras Male' project, the administration continues to assert that the initiative is a historic undertaking poised to bring significant growth to the Maldivian economy.
