Ibrahim Nazil, the Member of Parliament for South Hithadhoo and Leader of the MDP Parliamentary Group, has stated that actions coerced from citizens through the threat of job dismissal cannot be interpreted as genuine public support.
Speaking on RaajjeTV’s "Fala Surukhee" program, Nazil stated that many citizens are currently being subjected to threats regarding their employment. He further noted that actions taken by citizens under the fear of losing their jobs cannot be interpreted as genuine support for the government.
Nazil stated that the government has failed to fulfill any of the promises it has made to date. He noted that while numerous pledges were made in the lead-up to recent elections, none of them have been delivered.
Speaking regarding the township project, Nazil stated that the government has yet to provide answers to any of the questions raised concerning the initiative.
Highlighting the importance of addressing public concerns regarding ongoing government initiatives, Nazil stated that the administration must implement more transparent policies in these matters.
Nazil stated that the government must undertake the necessary efforts to fulfill its pledged commitments.
Highlighting that the Maldivian economy has contracted by 12 percent, Nazil questioned why President Muizzu has yet to dismiss Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed despite the current situation.
Furthermore, Nazil noted that reports are currently circulating regarding a potential fuel shortage, warning that the country would face a dire situation should such a crisis occur.
