President, Islamic Chamber Secretary General Discuss Halal Tourism Expansion
2 ސެޕްޓެމްބަރު 2026 | ބުދަ 08:21The Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development (ICCD) and the Maldivian government held discussions focused on advancing the Islamic economy and strengthening cooperation in halal tourism and trade. During the meeting, the Secretary General also presented a specially handcrafted, calligraphed Mushaf to the President.

The Secretary General of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development (ICCD), Sheikh Yousef Hasan Khalawi, has paid a courtesy call on President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
According to the President's Office, the meeting took place on Wednesday morning at the President's Office.
Furthermore, the President’s Office stated that the discussions primarily focused on enhancing cooperation in capacity building, investment, hospitality, and the halal trade sector, as well as advancing the Islamic economy.
This also includes the expansion of halal tourism.
During the meeting, the Secretary-General presented the President with a gift of a hand-written copy of the Holy Quran.
