President Muizzu's 100-day pledges for Addu City remain unfulfilled even as 1,000 days have passed: MP Didi

Ahmed Didi, the Member of Parliament for the Maradhoo constituency, has stated that the projects President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu pledged to complete in Addu City within 100 days remain unseen, even as the timeline approaches 1,000 days.

Speaking on RaajjeTV’s "Vaudhunaama" program, MP Didi stated that President Muizzu had pledged to complete numerous projects within his first 100 days in Addu City alone. MP Didi further noted that the public now views President Muizzu’s manifesto as nothing more than a "fantasy story."

MP Didi stated that the current state of the healthcare system shows the public is struggling, noting that residents in Addu City are forced to travel from one island to another just to secure essential medication.

I find it difficult to believe that President Muizzu even remembers the pledges he made. There are numerous commitments he explicitly stated would be fulfilled within his first 100 days; however, as we approach the 1,000-day mark, the public has yet to see any practical implementation or tangible benefits. Consequently, the people are now characterizing President Muizzu’s manifesto as nothing more than a collection of visionary fantasy stories.

MP Didi stated that he does not believe President Muizzu will fulfill his promises in the future. Highlighting his meetings with the heads of MTCC, Fenaka, and other State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), MP Didi noted that the government only provides completion deadlines for projects to these companies, without specifying any commencement dates.

An MTCC official informed me today that they have set completion dates for the projects commissioned during President Muizzu’s visit to Addu last year. However, several projects under the "design and build" model remain stalled. For instance, the head of the state-owned enterprise noted that while the contracts for the development of the Maradhoo Health Center into a hospital and the construction of the Maradhoo School hall were signed under this model, progress has halted. The official stated that although the designs have been completed and submitted to the Ministry, they have yet to receive any further response.

Furthermore, MP Didi noted President Muizzu’s assertion that the coming year would be a year of inaugurations, but expressed skepticism that any tangible projects would actually be completed. He added that the "fantasy stories" being told by President Muizzu are disconnected from the "ground reality."
