Parliament Approves Dhiyana as Ambassador to Belgium, EU
29 ޖުލައި 2026 | ބުދަ 08:56The Parliament has unanimously approved the appointment of Fathimath Dhiyana Saeed as the Maldives' Ambassador to Belgium and the European Union, with 52 members voting in favor of the Foreign Relations Committee's report. A former Attorney General and Secretary-General of SAARC, Saeed has most recently been serving as an Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The People's Majlis has granted its approval for the appointment of Dhiyana Saeed as the Ambassador of the Maldives to the Kingdom of Belgium and the European Union.
The matter was reviewed by the Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Relations. The committee's findings and final report on the issue were presented during Wednesday’s parliamentary session.
The People's Majlis has unanimously approved the appointment of Dhiyana Saeed as the Maldives' Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium and the European Union, with all 52 members present voting in favor.
In addition to serving as Attorney General during President Nasheed's administration, Dhiyana has also held the post of Secretary-General of SAARC. Furthermore, she was appointed as Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the current administration, alongside former ministers Adam Shareef Umar and Thoriq Ibrahim.
