Falah suggests current administration’s dismissal of employees is justified

Amidst reports of numerous dismissals from state-owned enterprises under the current administration, Ibrahim Falah, the Member of Parliament for the Inguraidhoo constituency, has asserted that the government has not unfairly terminated any employee.
Speaking at Tuesday's parliamentary sitting, Falah stated that as President Muizzu’s administration approaches its third year, not even a single person—let alone 15—has been unfairly dismissed from their job. Falah further asserted that during previous MDP administrations, employees were terminated from their positions solely because they were not affiliated with or did not support the party.
Debating a resolution submitted by Mauroof Zakir, the Member of Parliament for the Kendhoo constituency, Falah noted that the document failed to specify the exact number of employees dismissed by the current administration. He further remarked that the main opposition party, MDP, lacked the moral standing to speak on the issue.
Furthermore, Falah stated that it is necessary to reflect on who encouraged Maldivians to seek employment within government ministries and state-owned enterprises.

While Falah maintains that the current administration has not unfairly dismissed any employees, widespread concern is growing across the country over ongoing job terminations. Numerous employees have reportedly been fired specifically for expressing critical views of the government on social media or for participating in activities organized by the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP). Furthermore, several employees have also been dismissed from their positions following their participation in protests held against the government.
Protests recently broke out in Lh. Kurendhoo following the dismissal of several employees from the local Fenaka branch. Similar demonstrations against staff terminations have also been reported in various other islands across the country.
