President Confers Order of Distinguished Rule of Izzuddin on Al-Ustaz Ibrahim Rasheed Moosa

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has conferred the Order of the Distinguished Rule of Izzuddin (O.D.R.I.) upon Ibrahim Rasheed Moosa. The honor was presented during the official ceremony held on Sunday morning to mark the Maldives' Independence Day.

Al-Ustadh Ibrahim Rasheed Moosa is a distinguished scholar who has served the Maldives in various capacities and continues to be actively engaged in his service to the nation. He is most notably recognized for his invaluable contributions to promoting Islamic awareness, providing religious education, and his extensive work in authoring and compiling numerous religious publications.

Upon returning to the Maldives after completing his higher education at Al-Azhar University in Egypt, Ibrahim Rasheed Moosa began his career as a mathematics teacher at Majeediyya School. Ibrahim Rasheed Moosa is widely recognized as one of the most prominent and distinguished experts in the field of mathematics in the Maldives.

Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom played a pivotal role in the establishment of Mauhad al-Dirasatil Islamiyya, the premier institution for Arabic and Islamic education founded during the early years of his presidency. Upon assuming leadership of the institute, Al-Ustaz Ibrahim Rashid Moosa prioritized human resource development in various fields where the Maldives then lacked qualified professionals. Al-Ustaz Ibrahim Rashid Moosa worked extensively to expand Arabic-medium education from primary through higher secondary levels. Furthermore, he was instrumental in facilitating numerous opportunities for students to pursue advanced Arabic and Islamic studies abroad.

Ibrahim Rasheed Moosa is a prolific author who has compiled and published numerous works in the field of Islamic studies. His literary contributions include the translation of 11 books and the authorship of over 50 published titles. Beyond his written work, Ibrahim Rasheed Moosa has written, produced, and narrated a wide array of religious programs. In collaboration with the Voice of Maldives and the Mauhad al-Dirasatil Islamiyya, he produced a 365-episode series titled "Let’s Learn to Recite the Quran." He also authored a 52-episode series titled "Quran and Science." Furthermore, Ibrahim Rasheed Moosa is the translator behind the Dhivehi version of the series "Muhammad Rasulullah," a staple of Television Maldives that remains a favorite among Maldivian audiences every Ramadan. Ibrahim Rasheed Moosa has also made significant contributions to the field of journalism. In addition to serving as the publisher for various newspapers and magazines, he has held roles as a secretary and coordinator within the industry. He was a regular contributor to magazines such as "Amaazu" and "Faiythoora," as well as several other publications.

Al-Ustaz Ibrahim Rasheed Moosa is a distinguished public servant who has dedicated over 43 years to the state, holding several high-ranking positions throughout his career. The majority of his service was spent at the Maldives' premier institutions for Arabic and Islamic education—the Mauhad al-Dirasatil Islamiyya and its successor, the Kulliyat al-Dirasatil Islamiyya. At the time of his retirement on November 17, 2018, he was serving as the President of the National Centre for the Holy Quran.
