Amid growing concerns over the complete suspension of medical services in V. Thinadhoo, the government has arranged for a doctor from V. Felidhoo to visit the island once a week to provide essential healthcare.
According to a reliable source familiar with the matter, a visiting doctor has been assigned to Thinadhoo after the issue was brought to the attention of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Economic Development, Transport, and Trade through a program scheduled to commence on July 20, 2026.
Under this arrangement, a doctor from Felidhoo visits the island once a week to consult with patients.
Furthermore, residents of the island report that Thinadhoo Health Center has been without a doctor or nurse for over a month, noting that the resident doctor departed during this year's Eid-al-Adha holidays.
Residents of Thinadhoo contend that having a doctor visit only once a week is an inadequate solution, given that the island operates an extensive guesthouse industry and contributes significant tax revenue to the state.
