Two injured after a fire broke out on a speedboat docked at Hanimaadhoo harbor
A fire that broke out on a speedboat docked at the Haa Dhaalu Hanimaadhoo harbor has left the vessel damaged beyond repair, though authorities successfully brought the flames under control. The boat's captain, who sustained injuries during the incident, is currently receiving medical treatment at Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital while police conduct a further investigation into the cause of the fire.

A fire broke out on a speedboat docked at the Haa Dhaalu Hanimaadhoo harbor, leaving the vessel's captain and a crew member with various degrees of injuries.
The vessel involved in the incident late Tuesday night was incinerated beyond repair.
According to the police, a report was received at approximately 00:20 on Sunday, July 21, 2026, regarding a fire on a speedboat docked at the Hanimaadhoo harbor. Authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of the incident.
Of the two individuals injured in the incident, the crew member has been discharged following treatment at the Hanimaadhoo Health Center. However, the captain of the launch has been transferred to Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital for further medical attention due to the severity of his injuries.
The vessel involved in the fire has been completely destroyed. According to police, the speedboat was incinerated beyond repair and is now a total loss.
Police stated that they are investigating the matter further and looking into all necessary aspects surrounding the incident. Authorities are currently in the process of gathering information by questioning the speedboat owner and individuals who were present in the harbor area at the time of the incident.
