PG Office files charges in 265 cases during June

The Prosecutor General’s Office has revealed that it filed a total of 265 cases for prosecution across various courts in the Maldives during the month of June.

According to statistics released by the Prosecutor General’s Office for June, the office accepted 228 cases submitted by investigative authorities during the month.
Furthermore, the office provided 683 legal opinions in June following requests from various investigative authorities regarding ongoing cases.
Regarding court attendance, prosecutors from the Prosecutor General’s Office attended a total of 1,207 hearings in the past month alone. These proceedings involved criminal cases conducted in various courts across the Maldives.
The Prosecutor General’s Office saw an increase in its overall workload in June compared to the previous month's statistics. Notably, the number of cases filed in court rose by two compared to May. Furthermore, official data indicates that June also saw an uptick in legal counsel provided to investigative authorities and a higher rate of prosecutor attendance at court hearings compared to May.
