Measles vaccination campaign begins for individuals under 49 years of age
HPA has arranged for individuals under the age of 49 to receive free measles vaccinations at hospitals across the Greater Male' Area as part of an ongoing outbreak control initiative. With the number of confirmed cases rising to 121, the agency urges anyone who has not completed the two-dose vaccine series to do so as soon as possible to ensure protection against the disease.

Authorities have opened the opportunity for individuals under the age of 49 who have not completed two doses of the measles vaccine to get vaccinated.
In a post on X on Wednesday, the Health Protection Agency (HPA) announced that the third phase of the public MR vaccination campaign in Male' and the atolls will target individuals under the age of 49 who have not yet completed two doses of the vaccine.
This program, which is being conducted in phases, initially prioritized healthcare workers and children under the age of 18. According to the Health Protection Agency (HPA), vaccinations for this age group were administered from June 28 to June 30.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced that the MR vaccine is available free of charge at all hospitals. This includes private facilities such as ADK Hospital and Tree Top Hospital, where the vaccine will also be administered at no cost.
Vaccination services will be available at UPHCC from Sunday to Thursday, between 8:30 am and 12:00 pm. At Hulhumale’ Hospital, vaccinations will be administered from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays, and from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Senahiya Military Hospital will provide the service from Sunday to Thursday, between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm, while Villimale’ Hospital will offer vaccinations from Sunday to Thursday, between 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm. Additionally, ADK Hospital will provide vaccinations from Sunday to Wednesday between 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm, and Tree Top Hospital will offer the service from 8:30 am to 10:00 am.
According to the Health Protection Agency (HPA), the total number of confirmed cases in the Greater Male' area has now reached 121. The agency noted that the majority of those infected are Maldivian nationals, with the highest prevalence of cases observed among individuals over the age of 18.
To control the spread of the disease, health experts advise seeking medical attention immediately upon the onset of symptoms and urge those who are not fully vaccinated to complete their vaccination as soon as possible.
