The Ministry of Economic Development, Transport and Trade has decided to appoint a Public Relations (PR) consultant to establish robust mechanisms for disseminating information regarding its ongoing projects and policies to the general public.
According to the Ministry, this decision is a significant step toward enhancing its communication capabilities and strengthening its engagement with the media and the general public.
The Ministry of Transport holds the primary responsibility for overseeing the Maldives' land, sea, and air transportation systems. While the Ministry plays an increasingly vital role in connecting communities across the archipelago, many citizens continue to express concern over the lack of adequate services provided by the institution.
The Ministry has announced its search for a PR consultant at a time when public interest in government-led development projects is on the rise. According to the announcement, the Ministry believes that enhancing transparency regarding these initiatives is currently essential.
The primary responsibilities of the newly appointed PR consultant will include planning and leading the ministry's strategic communication efforts. Additionally, the role involves establishing consistent protocols for disseminating information to the media and conducting awareness programs aimed at enhancing the public perception of the ministry's initiatives.
The monthly salary for this position exceeds 20,000 Rufiyaa.
While the Ministry of Heritage recently announced a search for PR consultancy services, various agencies within President Muizzu’s administration—which claims to be implementing cost-cutting measures—continue to hire personnel under various designations.
