Government's tarnished image cannot be polished through PR: Ihusan
Former Deputy Minister Mohamed Ihusan has criticized the Ministry of Dhivehi Language, Culture, and Heritage’s decision to hire a PR firm, alleging it is an attempt to mask the government's ineffective policies. Ihusan argued that the Ministry’s credibility has been severely damaged by the announcement of unscientific initiatives, such as using poetry to treat illnesses, and maintained that no amount of spending on public relations can restore lost public trust. He further contended that the administration's current approach is causing significant harm to the nation's language and heritage.

Former Deputy Minister and MDP National Congress member Mohamed Ihusan has stated that the Ministry of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage’s search for a public relations firm to enhance its image is an attempt to mask the government's ineffective policies.
Speaking on RaajjeTV’s "Fala Surukhee" program, Ihusan strongly criticized several policies implemented by the government to date.
Ihusan stated that upon seeing the announcement seeking contractors to renovate the facade of the Heritage Ministry, his first thought was the lack of sound policies maintained by this administration. In this regard, he noted that several recently announced policies, such as treating illnesses through poetry, were introduced without adequate research or proper due diligence.
Upon seeing the news, my immediate thought was the government's lack of robust policymaking. For instance, some of the recently announced initiatives, such as the proposal to use poetry as a form of medical treatment, appear to be poorly researched and were introduced without conducting the necessary due diligence.Former Deputy Minister and MDP National Congress Member Mohamed Ihusan
Ihusan stated that such inconsistent policies have tarnished the Ministry's reputation and damaged its public image. He further noted that the government's current efforts are focused on rectifying these issues and changing the negative public perception.
However, he noted that regardless of how beautiful a foundation is laid, the building constructed upon it must also be of equal quality and excellence.
Ihusan further stated that none of the policies announced by the current administration thus far have yielded any benefits for the citizens. Instead, he noted that the government’s actions to date have caused significant damage to Maldivian culture, language, and heritage.
In conclusion, Ihusan stated that no matter how much is spent on public relations to polish flawed policies, they can no longer be redeemed. He further noted that the government’s actions have led to a complete loss of public confidence.
