The Pay Commission has decided to reclassify Women's Development Committees as full-time bodies and increase the salaries of their presidents and vice-presidents. Under the new structure, presidents of city-level committees will receive a monthly salary of MVR 41,500, while presidents of island-level committees will be paid MVR 21,000 per month.

The National Pay Commission has decided to significantly increase the salaries of the presidents of Women's Development Committees (WDC) across cities and islands.
The National Pay Commission has set the monthly salary for Presidents of Women's Development Committees (WDCs) in cities at MVR 41,500. This total includes a basic salary of MVR 33,000 and a living allowance of MVR 8,500. Previously, city WDC Presidents received a monthly remuneration of MVR 7,000.
The salaries for presidents of island Women’s Development Committees (WDCs) have been increased from MVR 6,000 to MVR 21,000. This new remuneration package consists of a basic salary of MVR 16,500 and a living allowance of MVR 4,500.
Furthermore, adjustments have been made to the salaries of vice presidents and members of Women's Development Committees (WDCs). The salary for vice presidents of city-level WDCs has been increased to MVR 7,000, supplemented by a sitting allowance of MVR 500 for every meeting attended. Similarly, the salary for vice presidents of island-level committees has been raised to MVR 6,000, with an additional MVR 500 allowance provided for each meeting they attend.
The National Pay Commission has decided to grant members of city and island Women's Development Committees an additional allowance of MVR 500 for every meeting attended, despite no changes being made to their base salaries.
The newly elected presidents and members of Women's Development Committees have been officially notified of the changes made to their remuneration.
With this change, it is estimated that the annual expenditure for the salaries of Women's Development Committee members will amount to 6 million Rufiyaa for cities and 73 million Rufiyaa for islands.
According to the recent amendments to the Decentralization Act, the salaries of Women's Development Committee (WDC) members must be determined by the National Pay Commission. Following the Commission's decision, its President and Minister of Finance, Moosa Zameer, has formally communicated the new salary structure in a letter to Mohamed Nimal, the CEO of the Local Government Authority (LGA).
