Dhamanaveshi, which has provided dedicated public health services for 42 years, is set to close this Thursday.
Senior officials from the Male' City Group of Hospitals and the Ministry of Health met with the staff of Dhamanaveshi on Sunday. During the meeting, discussions were held regarding the closure of the health center.
A staff member from Dhamanaveshi informed RaajjeMV that the clinic is scheduled to close this coming Thursday. Following renovations, the facility is set to reopen on July 26 under the new name, Urban Primary Health Care Centre.
Highlighting several concerns, he noted that Dhamanaveshi has long been a provider of essential public health services directly to the community, maintaining a high standard of vaccination programs. He emphasized that the center has earned significant public trust and affection. He further noted that a peak period is approaching, as a large number of people are expected to visit for vaccinations following the Hajj pilgrimage.
Furthermore, during the meeting, staff highlighted that the facility currently serves over 100 people daily, emphasizing the need to ensure arrangements are made to prevent any service disruptions. The staff also stated that when the center reopens as the Urban Primary Health Care Center, all services must be fully established and operational.
Following the closure of Dhamanaveshi on Thursday, its staff will be reassigned to the Urban Primary Healthcare Centers in Hulhumalé and Maafannu. The Malé City Group of Hospitals stated that, to ensure minimal disruption to operations, employees will be given the opportunity to work at their preferred center and will be able to return to Dhamanaveshi once it reopens.
