Parliament observes moment of silence following the passing of former MP
The People's Majlis observed a moment of silence during today's session to honor the memory of Mohamed Ramiz, a former Member of Parliament for Gaafu Alif Atoll and former Vice President of the DRP, who passed away at the age of 74. The Parliament officially extended its deepest condolences to the family following his passing.

The Parliament has observed a moment of silence to mourn the passing of former Member of Parliament Mohamed Ramiz.
Former Member of Parliament Ramiz passed away on May 9th. He was 74 years old at the time of his death.
During Monday's parliamentary sitting, the Speaker expressed condolences and led the chamber in a moment of silence to honor the occasion.
Ramiz served as a member of the Special Majlis and represented the Gaafu Alif Atoll constituency. Additionally, he held the position of Vice President of the Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP), founded by former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.
Following the passing of Ramiz, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu expressed his condolences to the family in a post on X. The President highlighted Ramiz’s distinguished service to the nation as a former member of both the People’s Majlis and the Special Majlis, as well as his significant contributions to the tourism and trade sectors.
