Lightning strikes cause electrical issues. STELCO advises customers to contact their hotline immediately if any problems occur
Due to power outages caused by lightning strikes during the ongoing heavy rain in Malé, STELCO has urged residents to check their distribution boards (D-boards) if their Earth Leakage Circuit Breakers (ELCB) have tripped. If power is not restored after resetting the ELCB, customers are advised to report the issue by contacting the company’s hotline at 1545.

STELCO has reported that lightning strikes accompanied by heavy thunder are currently causing power supply disruptions.
In a social media post on Tuesday night, STELCO stated that it has observed power outages in several households due to Earth Leakage Circuit Breakers (ELCB) tripping, caused by heavy rain and lightning strikes across Malé.
Consequently, STELCO has advised that in the event of a power outage under such circumstances, residents should check their home or apartment distribution board (D-board). If the Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker (ELCB) has tripped, they are encouraged to reset it to restore power.
However, STELCO has advised customers to report any issues by calling their hotline at 1545 if the ELCB trips again immediately after being reset or if power is not restored.
