Former President Mohamed Nasheed has expressed his satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the voting process, stating that he is pleased to see democracy in action.
Speaking to the press after casting his ballot in the ongoing local council, Women's Development Committee (WDC), and referendum elections, Nasheed expressed his satisfaction with the smooth conduct of the electoral process. He stated that witnessing democracy in action was a source of great joy and encouragement. The President further emphasized that the right to vote is both a fundamental responsibility and a duty that every citizen should fulfill.
"It is deeply heartening to see the election proceed so peacefully. Witnessing democracy in action brings me great joy," Nasheed said.
He stated that upholding the rule of law and ensuring the continued prosperity of the people can only be achieved by refining and maintaining the governance system. Therefore, he emphasized that exercising the right to vote is an absolute necessity.
