Immigration officers search locations in illegal business crackdown
Two businesses in Malé City have been shut down for operating in violation of regulations, while one other was issued an official notice.
According to Maldives Immigration, the action came as part of an ongoing operation by the task force aimed at inspecting businesses run illegally by expatriates.
Maldives Immigration reported that nine establishments in Malé City were inspected during the operation. Following these inspections, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade immediately halted the operations of two businesses and one additional establishment was issued a notice.

This task force is working in collaboration with the Maldives Police Service (MPS) to identify expatriates operating businesses illegally or residing in the country without proper authorization.
Efforts are also underway to deport expatriates found to be violating Maldivian laws, with no further opportunities provided for such individuals.
Over the past two years, the Maldives has deported a total of 9,188 expatriates for illegal residence or involvement in criminal activities.
