State proposes record MVR 64.2 billion budget for 2026

The government has proposed a budget of MVR 64.2 billion for the year 2026, and an increase of MVR 7.7 billion to the MVR 56.5 billion budget approved for 2025.
Minister of Finance and Planning Moosa Zameer presented the proposed budget during Thursday’s sitting of the People’s Majlis. The 2026 proposal represents the largest budget ever submitted in the history of the Maldives.
