A dead body has been discovered in a house in Maafannu district of the congested capital, Malé City.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Maldives Police Service (MPS) confirmed that they received the report at approximately 07:22am on Monday.

Authorities responded to the scene and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.

As of now, the police institution has stated that no evidence suggesting a criminal offense has been identified in connection with the case. However, they noted that the investigation remains ongoing.

While some media outlets have reported that the deceased had injuries to the neck, police have not confirmed this detail.
