An employee of the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has been suspended in connection with a case of misusing their position to allocate land in Hulhumalé and Thilafushi.

The suspended individual is Fathimath Guraisha Mohamed, Assistant Director of Business Development and Sales at HDC. It is understood that the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is also investigating several cases against her.

HDC is currently investigating this matter.

Previously, allegations surfaced that HDC's former Managing Director Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed had misused his position to sell land to some individuals associated with the government. However, ACC did not investigate the case.

When a case surfaced regarding Fazul's brother, Mohamed Fazeel Rasheed being unfairly allocated land, the police announced that they had begun an investigation. However, the outcome of the investigation remains unknown.

Fazul currently holds a senior position in the main ruling People’s National Congress (PNC). He is also the campaign manager appointed by PNC for Vaavu atoll in the upcoming council elections.

As numerous allegations of major corruption are being made against President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's government, many people are directing their criticism towards this administration.
