President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has conferred the Honor of Order of the Dignified Rule of the Dhiyamigili Dynasty (ODRDD) on Adam Abdul Rahman, from Utheem island of Haa Alif atoll, who has rendered valuable services to the Maldivian state for over 42 years.

This honor was bestowed during the official ceremony held in Utheem island to mark this year's National Day on August 24.

Adam Abdul Rahman, popularly known as "Utheem Aadhambe," began his service to the state on 26 August 1965, as the island chief of Utheem island in Haa Alif atoll. After serving as the island chief for more than 15 years, he was transferred to the position of Assistant Atoll Chief of Haa Alif Atoll.

One of the most notable aspects of Adam Abdul Rahman's service was the measures he took to resolve the food shortage crisis in the atolls of Maldives during the 1970s. It is particularly noteworthy that due to his robust efforts, not a single person in Utheem died of starvation.

Adam Abdul Rahman's major contribution to rural development projects was the introduction of the contract-based work system. With this change, significant progress was made in the implementation of development projects.

Adam Abdul Rahman served as the Atoll Chief of Haa Alif Atoll three times, for a total period of over 11 years. He also served as the Director of the Boduthakurufaanu Memorial Center for more than three years.

Further, he is also renowned in the field of Dhivehi language and literature. He has particularly proven his skill in poetry. In this regard, he received the Public Service Incentive Award in 2004 and the National Award of Honor in the field of Dhivehi Language and Literature in 2016.
