MP for North Galolhu constituency Mohamed “Kudoo” Ibrahim, has proposed to summon Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusaan to the People's Majlis to verify if the measures outlined in the report issued by the Presidential Commission, established to investigate the incident of Hawwa Yumnu Rasheed's fall from the ninth floor of H. Fentenoy onto the roof of an adjacent warehouse in the early hours of 18 April 2025, are being implemented.
Regarding the issues highlighted in the Presidential Commission's report about the Maldives Police Service (MPS) in connection with Yumnu's fall, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has instructed to revise the police SOPs, familiarize and train staff, and to investigate and take disciplinary action against the employees who were negligent in Yumnu's fall to prevent a recurrence.
The president also ordered an investigation into the discrepancies between the statement given to the police by Daud Ahmed, the brother of Raud Ahmed Zilal who is involved in the case, and the statement he gave to the Presidential Commission.
Further, the president instructed the Ministry of Health to take necessary steps to strengthen the administrative matters of Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) and the FPU located in the hospital, as highlighted by the Presidential Commission.
Although the president has ordered to take action on the issues raised in the report, the government has not disclosed any measures taken so far.
The commission's investigation report was made public on 17 June 2025. The President's Office highlighted that the president has instructed the Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology and the Ministry of Health to implement the findings of the commission's report and take necessary actions.
The police investigation into Yumnu's fall in the early hours of April 18 has been subject to criticism from several members of the public. Many young adults in Malé City also held a series of protests, expressing distrust in the police's statements and the institution’s handling of the case. The police institution did not make any effort to find evidence from the roof of H. Mithaaz, where Yumnu was found fallen. It has been revealed that the investigation officers and scene of crime officers who went to Fentenoy for investigation on the evening of April 18 did not climb onto the roof of H. Mithaaz to search for evidence either.
