Major setback for flat recipients as City Council announces it cannot issue resident registrations as per agreement
City Council stated this in a written response to a private individual on Thursday
They informed the individual that they cannot issue a resident registration in the name of the apartment tenant
They said, when looking at the entire agreement, it is clear that this is a rental agreement made between the lessor and the lessee

The City Council has announced that they cannot issue resident registrations for the flats allocated by the former administration, under the "Gedhoruveriyaa" Scheme.

The City Council stated in a written response to a private individual on Thursday that the current procedure for issuing resident registrations is that when the buyer submits a request to the council for a resident registration along with a copy of the agreement made under the "Sale and Purchase Agreement," a resident registration is issued in the name of the buyer of the property.

Although the agreement being made between Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) and private individuals is called a "Unit Rental and Ownership Agreement," the City Council has also stated that when looking at the entire agreement, it is clear that this is a rental agreement made between the lessor and the lessee.

As such, the City Council has informed the individual that they cannot issue a resident registration in the name of the apartment tenant, which should be issued in the name of the apartment owner, under a rental agreement.
