Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mohamed Saeed has denied reports circulating regarding the alleged sale of Hanimaadhoo International Airport, at a time speculation on the matter has been intensifying.

Reports have been circulating regarding the potential sale of Hanimaadhoo International Airport to a private entity.

Some political figures have been making various allegations against the government regarding the issue.

During a meeting held by the People’s National Front (PNF) on July 3, former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom alleged that the government was working to sell Hanimaadhoo International Airport to India's Adani Group.

The former president claimed that the government had met with the Chairman of Adani Group at a meeting in Singapore and had discussed selling Hanimaadhoo International Airport to the company.
