Only 11 percent of the work remains on the flats developed under the previous government's Gedhoruveriyaa housing scheme, according to Hamdhaan Shakeel, Managing Director of Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC).
In an interview given to the media on Thursday while at the site where work on the towers is ongoing, Hamdhaan said that 2,000 flats from the project were contracted to MBCC India, of which 96 percent of the work has been completed. He added that the remaining 2,000 flats were contracted to India's KPIL, of which 95 percent of the work has also been completed.
Referring to the ongoing work, Hamdhaan said that currently, utility work is in progress.
He stated that Malé Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) and State Electric Company (STELCO) have assigned special teams to carry out these works.
Hamdhaan said that all finishing work on the Gedhoruveriyaa scheme flats has been completed, and people will be able to move into the completed towers before the end of July.
