Ooredoo Maldives has announced the commencing date for their Ooredoo Nation Inter Resort e-Sports Championship 2025.
In a press release issued on Wednesday, the telecommunications giant revealed that Ooredoo Nation Inter Resort e-Sports Championship 2025 will kick off on May 9 and conclude on May 10.
According to the telecom provider, the Ooredoo Nation Inter-Resort eSports Championship kicking off with 16 teams from 10 resorts this weekend, will unite gaming enthusiasts from across the Maldives' dynamic resort community.
Ooredoo went on to reveal that this year’s tournament is the first ever tournament of it’s kind for the resort community.
16 teams from 10 resorts will showcase the best of inter-resort gaming skills in two of the most popular mobile esports titles, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) and PUBG Mobile (PUBGM).
The two-day championship will support Ooredoo Nation’s goal of promoting digital participation, inclusivity, and camaraderie among the country’s diverse workforce.
The telecom giant announced that the MLBB tournament will follow a single-elimination format, with knockout rounds leading up to the semifinals on Friday night. The Third Place Playoff and Grand Final are scheduled for Saturday evening. Further, the PUBGM competition will adopt a Battle Royale format, with its Grand Finals spread over two days, featuring six matches on Friday and another six on Saturday.
The tournament champion will receive a cash prize of MVR 5,000, while the runner-up will be awarded MVR 3,000. The third-place finisher will take home MVR 2,000.
Matches will be livestreamed on Ooredoo Nation’s YouTube channel, drawing fans and colleagues from across the archipelago to cheer on their resort representatives and experience the action in real time.
The Inter-Resort Championship is a key part of Ooredoo Nation’s broader vision to grow the local esports scene by making it more accessible, inclusive, and professionally rewarding; reaching participants from luxury resorts to remote islands and beyond.
