President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has assured that his administration is firmly committed to upholding justice and will ensure that no citizen faces discrimination.

He gave this assurance in an exclusive interview with state media before departing on an official visit to Malaysia at the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Sunday.

The president said that the "Special Commission of the President to Investigate the Incident of 18 April 2025 in Malé" was established with several powers vested to it, and he noted that the commission will work “very well”. He assured in his speech that there would be no obstacles in finding the truth and investigating what needs to be investigated by the commission, and that such obstacles could not even be created. He also said that there would be no one who cannot be questioned by the commission, and no door that cannot be knocked on, and that they have been given the power to seek assistance from foreign countries if needed.

In his statement, the president said that discriminating against or being cruel to any citizen is not his principle or policy, neither up to now nor in the future. He said that from the very first day of the tragic incident until today, his principle has been to find the truth and establish justice. The president expressed hope in his speech that with the work of the commission, the case will be investigated in a very transparent and responsible manner, ensuring that no one is discriminated against, all questions are answered, and things become clear.

Further, the president shed light on the importance of maintaining peace, justice, and fairness in the island nation. He said that this is not only in the event of an incident, but that he wants justice, rule of law, peace, and stability to exist at all times in all areas.
