President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has claimed that some people are trying to take unfair advantage of youth concerns and emotions to politically destabilize the country.

Speaking to reporters at Velana International Airport (VIA) on Sunday before departing on an official trip to Malaysia, he assured that he would listen to the concerns, complaints, and feelings of the youth.

In his remarks, the president stressed that what matters most to him is the trust placed in him by the people and the oath he took, and that there would be no one who could influence him. He also said that he would not hesitate to listen to the concerns and feelings of the people, and that he would respond to said concerns, address them, and take the required measures in a civilized manner.

In his statement, he appealed on the public not to give the opportunity to those who are trying to take unfair advantage of youth concerns and emotions to create political instability in the country.

Reminding the people that it is in the interest of Maldivians, both individually and collectively, to have stability in the country, he said that ensuring this is the responsibility of every citizen.

Despite President Muizzu’s remarks, many continue to allege that the government has exerted significant influence and attempted to hide the truth surrounding the incident in which Hawwa Yumnu Rasheed fell from the ninth floor of a building in the capital. Although youth-led protests demanding justice for Yumnu have persisted, key figures facing the most serious allegations; Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Mohamed Ameen and Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusaan, remain in their posts. Both Ameen and Ihusaan have refused to resign from their ministerial positions. However, the youth continue to demand that both of them be removed from their positions.
