Raud Ahmed Zilaal, who was with Hawwa Yumnu Rasheed, 21, when she fell from the roof of H. Fentenoy, has been arrested under a court order.
In a message sent to the media, the Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that in connection with the case of a woman falling onto the roof of H. Mithaaz on April 18, Raud Ahmed Zilaal, 21, was arrested at 06:20pm on Thursday, under a court order.
In addition to this, the phones of a total of seven individuals, including Raud and the 21-year-old woman who fell, have been confiscated under a court order.
In connection with the case, the terrace of Maandhooge Dhekunuge and the second and fourth floors, as well as the third floor of Kashiveli, were searched. The police have not disclosed whether anything was taken into police custody as part of the raids.
Several members of the public continue to criticize the Maldives Police Service (MPS) and the current administration, claiming that the police institution is acting biasedly in connection with the incident where Yumnu “fell” from the building, onto the roof of an adjacent building.
In connection with the case, Raud was initially summoned to the police station where his statement was taken. Although he tested positive for cannabis when his urine was tested, he has not been arrested so far, but his passport has been confiscated.
Many people have also criticized the police institution for not arresting him despite testing positive for cannabis. According to Article 115 of the Narcotics Act, the punishment for using cannabis is three years in prison.
Yumnu was found on the morning of April 18, injured beyond recognition, atop a roof adjacent to Fentenoy.
