Maldives Police Service (MPS) has denied reports suggesting an attempted raid on the residence of Ibrahim Faisal, the first Minister of Tourism of the current administration.

Although no official agency has provided information regarding the matter, some media outlets reported on Monday that the attempted raid was on Faisal's residence in the capital, Malé City. The media outlets have also reported that the attempted raid has come after Faisal was dismissed from his position as Tourism Minister on January 28.

Despite attempts to contact Faisal via WhatsApp and phone calls, he has not responded, leaving his stance on the matter unknown.

When questioned about whether the police are investigating any cases related to Faisal, the police institution denied this. They also denied the rumors about attempting to raid Faisal's residence.

However, RaajjeMV has learned through a reliable source who spoke on the condition of anonymity that the attempt to raid Faisal's residence was reportedly carried out very secretly by some trusted government officers within the police institution and specific police officers they trust. The source also stated that some judges were approached to obtain a court order to raid Faisal's residence.

According to the source, it is rumored within the police institution that the raid did not materialize due to lack of cooperation from the judges. The source also revealed that some senior police officials have been saying that the raid on Faisal's residence could not be carried out because Faisal's father, Speaker of the People’s Majlis Abdul Raheem Abdulla, became aware of the planned raid.

However, the police institution has not officially disclosed anything regarding the matter. Therefore, it remains unclear whether the police are investigating any case against the former tourism minister, or what allegations are being made against him. Neither President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu nor the government has revealed the official reason for Faisal's sudden dismissal from his position.
